June 2015

Steve and Jamie got married. It was simple and pretty and nice. We are so happy for them.
I love this time of year when I can plant my flower pots and garden. It is my favorite time of year and I really love watching them grow. The hot item of 2015 was Kendama's. A Japanese yoyo. The kids took them to school and had Kendama wars. It looks like they stole my phone and took a picture of them stacked really high. Chad finally got to go visit his mom's sister "Aunt Jackie" in Alaska for his Grandpa's funeral. He had the time of his life. His uncle flies airplanes and they got to play the whole time.
In the first week of June we went to Lake Powell with our friends Dustin and Amy Erekson and their three kids, Clain, Westin and Madison. We rented a house boat and two wave runners. It was the most fabulous trip and we felt very spoiled. We have always dry camped on shore. It was so nice to have a bed and shelter. Our most memorable times this year were, the wave runners. The four oldest boys, Clain, Kyle Westin and Jared all had gotten their Boaters License, so they all could drive the Wave Runners. That is all they wanted to do. Kyle scared me to death. He is loves to speed and jump high wakes and get a lot of air. They actually didn't wake board and ski as much, because they were having so much fun on the wave runners. The house boat had a slide, and the kids had a blast going off of the slide. Cliff jumping. We found a lots of cliffs, high and low to jump off. Another favorite memory is our boat ride to Rainbow Bridge National Monument. It's quite a long boat ride, but it has some of the most amazing scenery. The history of the bridge is fascinating. Another favorite memory is our "military" training by Clain and Dustin. We parked the house boat in a nice little culdesac and it was by a huge sand hill. We ran up the hill and then did push ups when we got to the boat and did that about 5 times. Landon got to take his best friend Zac Cutler. That was pretty fun for Landon. On the second to last day we had a hail storm and there were several flash floods around Lake Powell. We were very lucky that we were parked where we were and nothing happened to our boats. Another memory is my hurt back. I didn't sleep well, because it hurt to sit or lay down. I'm afraid I was a big whiner and not much help or fun. I think the little kids loved tubing the most. They always begged to go tubing. Now that I am looking at pictures, I feel quite fortunate. Our tube had a couple of holes in it. Chad patched them, but the patches did hold. I feel very fortunate that the kids didn't get folded up in that blasted tube.
