Kyle's Knee Injury

Kyle has always been very active. From the time he was two years old, he was racing down our driveway on his scooter. When he was in Kindergarten he was jumping ramps on his bike and trying all sorts of tricks. He loves to do extreme sports. He loves anything from BMX, Motorcross, Mountain Biking, Wake Boarding, Slalom Skiing, and Snow Boarding. We think he is a natural at sports like this. We have felt very lucky that the only injury that he has ever had was some stitches in his chin. When he was in Kindergarten or First Grade, he was in the cul-de-sac jumping his bike on the ramps, and crashed and split his chin open. Only needed 13 stitches. He does have a nasty scar from it though. This winter he and Jared both have snow board passes and they have loved going up to Sundance as often as they can. The week before Christmas they had gone up and we had them ride the bus. They went and snow boarded all day with no injuries. They road the bus home and were waiting for Chad to pick them up. Kyle tripped on a curb that he didn't see because of the snow and when he did his knee caught the edge of his snowboard and cut him pretty badly. It cut through his snow pant and his other layer that he had on as well. He knew he was bleeding pretty badly, but it was dark and couldn't see that well. That was probably a blessing. He said he kept thinking about his first aide that he learned in scouts and remembered that he had duct tape in his back pack. He made a tourniquet with the tape. They brought him home to look at it and took him straight to Insta Care. They determined the injury was too severe for them, so they sent them to the emergency room. He ended up with about 12 shots to numb it and then about 40 stitches. He has a pretty ugly scar on his knee. It put him out of snow boarding over Christmas break and even for a while afterwards. He was a trooper and pretty brave about it all.

More December Fun

I do not love Winter. I don't usually like going outside or being cold. I would much rather sit inside in my sweats and read a book. But, I do love sledding. We have gone a few times. We just like to go over to the little sledding hill behind the High School bleachers. It is close to home. Not too big of hill, so we can walk back up several times. I can even leave the kids on their own for a bit. We have a lot of fun there! One day we took Joslyn and Jace and Jared's friend Bailey. I dropped Landon Spencer there one day and they ran into some friends from school. Joslyn tried out the snowboard, and said she thinks she found a sport she is good at! The first two pictures are of Spencer and Jared performing in their school Christmas program. I also included the other boys school pictures that were taken this year! Kyle's is terrible quality, because I scanned his Jr. High activity card. Ha! Love them! !

Landon

I just have to have a little Brag session about Landon. Sometimes, I think he gets a bad wrap. But, he is by far my cleanest most organized child. He likes he bed made perfectly, his dresser clean, his closet is always super clean. If I need something organized, I always ask him. I appreciate him so much. He loves to play Lego's and hates to destroy his creations, so he has them neatly on every nook and cranny in his room. He is super kind to Spencer and plays with him whenever Spencer will. He had his Tonsils out this month and was one sick little boy. He lost about 7 pounds in four days. He wouldn't eat or even swallow his own spit. I couldn't even get a popsicle down him. Luckily, I knew that he would only get better, and that is what got "us" through it. He did get better after about 10 days and quickly gained his weight back. He seems to be sleeping better. He also had his cute mole removed from his eye. It looks really good, but I miss his mole. I think that is what made Landon, Landon. I took Pictures of Landon, but can't seem to find them right now. I hope I didn't erase them from my phone. The pictures below are Landon and Spencer's dresser. Landon's is the clean side of course. Spencer is by far our messiest child. He likes to collect junk! I also caught Landon and Spencer playing great together one day, so I snapped a picture of them. Landon singing his the Christmas program. He didn't enjoy it at all. The little boy is front of him, is a little out there and was "embarrassing" to Landon. At the end of the program the little boy, turned around and did a little booty dance. I also thought Landon's Christmas list was quite funny. A boy dog for Ellie...a hint to where the pickle is...haha! I also included his school picture. I don't buy their school pictures. This was on his class photo, so I scanned it. I thought it was a cute picture this year. I love Landon so much!

Prestwich Ugly Sweater Christmas Party

I was horrible at taking pictures this year. I was so excited about the Prestwich Family Christmas Party this year. My aunt Ellen planned an Ugly Sweater contest. I have always wanted to go to an Ugly Sweater Party. I always see Facebook Posts about them and stuff on Pinterest. So, I went to DI, and picked out some ugly shirts. Then, Cathryn and I went to Big Lots and picked out some ugly decorations. We laughed so hard in the store and had a great time together. We picked out a tree skirt for Annika's sweater. I thought it was genius and was shocked that she didn't win anything at the party. Boo! I didn't quite have enough decorations, so I went to my mother-in-law Julie for help. She had a lot of Ugly stuff that we just glued right on. I think my favorite is Kyle's. We named his the Jingle "Balls" Sweater. I got pictures of each one as we made them, but didn't even get one of everyone individually in our sweaters. What was I thinking? I did get a family shot. I thought I was going to put it on our Christmas card, but chickened out! Although we didn't win any awards, I was very proud of my kids for wearing them and having a good time with it! I was so thankful to see my Grandma Prestwich. I haven't seen her very much over the passed year and feel so terrible about it. She has full Alzheimers now, and it is so sad. It breaks my heart. My aunt Marjean has been living with her for 3 years now. Marjean says that most of the time Grandma forgets that she lives there and has to remind her everynight. She even forgets who Marjean is. She is starting to forget how to eat certain foods. Marjean said she gave her a banana and she just looked at it and said, I don't know what to do with this. I have so many wonderful memories of Grandma, I just hate to see her like this! I love her so much!
