My little baseball player

Spencer has asked for the last two years if he could play baseball. I don't know why because as a family we don't have an interest in it. Last school year in second grade he read a book about Babe Ruth. He talked and talked about that book. How could I say no when he asked to play again. So, at his age he plays machine pitch. He has come a long way since his first game where he was."warming" up and smacked a kid in his back with his bat. He didn't know much including how to get an out or run around the bases. I am thankful it hasn't been very intense and he has been able to learn and have fun. He has a couple of good games.  He caught one ball and tagged someone running to third base. In the last game he had a good snag and tagged someone out. He seems to love playing shortstop and catcher. As we were driving on day Landon asked him "Spencer, why do you even like baseball"?  He replied, "because I was born to play it"!

I think it is great that he is loving baseball. I think we often forget the fun in sports because we get so wrapped up in the competition.
